About Institute
To cater the needs of mental health rehabilitation and for promoting rehabilitation of persons with mental illness with the approval of cabinet, National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation (NIMHR) was established as a Central Autonomous Institute under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India as a Society under MP Societies Registration Act, 1973 at Sehore Madhya Pradesh in October, 2018.
NIMHR as a National Institute working in the area of mental health rehabilitation is being set up on a piece of 25 acre of land allotted by the Government of Madhya Pradesh at Sehore, along Bhopal-Indore highway in Madhya Pradesh with an initial project cost for the first three years as Rs. 179.4 crore which includes non- recurring expenditure of Rs. 128.54 crore and recurring expenses of Rs. 51 crores. Non-recurring expenditure also provides for capital cost of construction of building of NIMHR @ Rs. 105.68 crore.
